Between the Pages - Ted & Gary (Interview with Playwright Beau Prichard)
In the latest episode of our Between the Pages series, we present Part 1 of a conversation with playwright and director Beau Prichard, to talk about his new play, Ted & Gary, a piece about a fictional meeting and conversation between serial killers Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgway ("The Green River Killer"). In the play, Gary presents a mentor/mentee relationship, in which Bundy takes Ridgway under his wing and in which they share details around their infamous crimes. Beau spoke with us about what inspired him to write the play, the challenges in putting together something that deals with some pretty dark subject matter (while there are gruesome acts described in the play, none are presented to the audience), and what his process looked like bringing it through table reads (and Zoom reads during Covid) until now as he's ready to stage it.
Keep an eye out for Part 2 of our interview with Beau as we discuss his other role as director of the play, which he's putting up in Georgetown at Jules Maes Saloon in October.
