Behind the Curtain - Merrily We Roll Along (SecondStory)- Doug Fahl

Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along is enjoying a resurgence, with a successful run currently on Broadway and a feature film in the works. Second Story Rep’s current production of this lesser known Sondheim work is proof that just because a musical may not be as popular as others by the same lyricist and composer (it’s not exactly flooding the regional and community theatre circuit), it doesn’t mean it’s not just as good, or even better. Doug Fahl, the Director of the SSR production, has always known this, though. We went Behind the Curtain with Doug, to talk about his love of Sondheim, and this musical in particular, his work with the wonderful cast that he’s put together and the SecondStory creative team, and filling in as an understudy during opening weekend in the 11th hour.
