Come on Get Tappy (Harry Turpin/Stacie Hart)
With many of the Seattle area professional live theatre houses shying away from new works in the upcoming season, it's refreshing to see ones who are willing to take a chance on something fresh. SecondStory Rep in Redmond is doing just that by putting up the new work from Harry Turpin and Stacie Hart, and produced by Outrage Onstage, Come On Get Tappy. "Get Tappy" opens on Friday, August 23 and runs through September 15 on the SSR stage.
We sat down with Harry and Stacie, who co-wrote the book for the show (Harry wrote the music and lyrics, and also directs), to discuss the genesis of this piece, what audiences can expect to see (HINT: a lot of laughs, catchy music, and yes, tap dancing!), and the importance of new works in what is an increasingly challenging time for theaters and artistic directors.
