Taproot Theatre (Karen Lund)

In the Seattle professional theatre community, no artistic director has been associated with his or her organization for as long as Karen Lund has. Now the Producing Artistic Director of Taproot Theatre, Karen first joined Taproot in 1995 and has been integral in guiding the organization from a small community theatre with no permanent home to what it is today, a leading theatre that provides not just high quality programming, but also boasts world and regional premieres, a touring company, and numerous educational programs throughout the community. Karen joins us for the latest episode in our Get to Know a Theatre series, going in depth into these programs, her history, as well as the theatre’s, and how she views her role as Producing Artistic Director. Karen provides insight into how the theatre has bounced back after Covid and what its new challenges are financially and operationally, plus where she is in the process of programming next season. Taproot Theatre currently has Sherlock Homes and the Precarious Position on its Jewell Mainstage, which is also directed by Karen.
